Week 1 Picks

In looking at the schedule and lines, it seems the bookmakers are on top of things. There aren't a lot of bargains out there and they're really making us pay to take the elite teams.
The second pick of this week 1 in the NFL involves the Bears and Colts. TopBoss has the Chicago Bears a little over-rated in the public's eye, and the Colts a little under-rated. This is all about the match-ups and it goes something like this. Colts offense will probably throw 50 times on Sunday. Number 1 because they don't have a strong rushing attack and number 2, you just can't run on the Bears. So they will be forced to pass, right into the Bears weakness. Bears were 28th vs the pass last year and while they should improve, they could be average at best. Luck will keep getting up and the Bears, like Apollo in Rocky I, could get worn out.
TopBoss is not under any impression that the Colts can stop a Bears offense that looks to now have deadly weapons in Marshall, Forte and Jeffery. Look for the Bears to get a lead and the Colts to either keep it close or cover the 10 points in the end.
The 3rd pick this week is obviously the over, for the reasons I've just stated, each team should light up the scoreboard against a very low total of  41.5. 'Nuff said.
Next, TopBoss likes the Falcons/KC game. This game should be a tough one. A high potent Atlanta Offense vs a great defense in KC. On the other side its a ball controlled offense in KC taking on a defense that will resemble the statistics of a year ago. TopBoss likes the upside of this Atlanta team. If the Falcons can come out the gate quickly, KC will have to throw right into Atlanta's strength, which is the secondary. Make no mistake, KC has a great defense, good offense and maybe the best 12th man in the NFL, but Altanta's weapons will hit their targets enough to win this war. Oh and by the way, #91 Hali, the Chiefs beast of a linebacker will be sidelined.
Finally, TopBoss loves the Detriot Lions. We know what we've got in the Lions. An offense that likes to run up the score. The Rams have a lot of things going for them and will be much improved, especially offensively. Jeff Fisher shored up every category on offense and defense to make them more competitive but, the injury bug has reared it's head. The Rams Defensive line has been decimated with injury, and Detroit will make it disgustingly ugly. A Rams offense will make a valiant effort but to no avail.
